Looking back I see that even in fifth grad I was so young and inexperienced. Not that I’m experienced now, but…..I’m so different now.

You know, I spent all day cleaning out my closet and now I feel so different. Like I’m clearer or something.

I’m also in a really great mood because I finished my “guy”. See I got a ball of fluff at the fair yesterday. Last night I made him arms and legs and today I glued them on. He’s really cute. I named him “Ball Guy”, but I’m not sure if the name fits.

Let’s review here. You got a ball of fluff, added arms and legs and now are not sure if the name “Ball Guy” fits??? It fits. Take it from me. I have fond memories of “Ball Guy.”

Well today I was supposed to go to Becky’s because she’s moving on the 1st. Anyway I was about to go over there but we got in a stupid fight. It’s so stupid I can’t even tell you. You’d start to laugh. Continue Reading

Beauty and the Beast: Special Edition

Beauty and the Beast is tied in my heart as best Disney movie ever. I decided to get it from Netflix months if not years ago, but was disappointed that the so-called “Special Edition” was the only one I could find and wasn’t available! It remained at the bottom of my queue, and finally emerged at the top last week.

I was so excited! I counted the days before I could set aside a good hour and a half to really relax and admire the wonderful animation, beautiful story and fantastic soundtrack.

All was going along well until this monstrosity came on:

It tuns out that Disney added in a new musical sequence in the 2002 Special Edition of the movie. Be warned, friends, be warned. Do not buy a new version of the movie. I’d argue it’s a reason to keep the old VHS & VCR around–just in case. Continue Reading

I’m sure she has her share of problems, like who should she eat lunch with today.

I hate Andy and Amy. Well, maybe I don’t hate her but I sort of do. I mean I envy her so much. She’s popular and pretty. You know the “p’s”. I swear how I’d love to be in her shoes. Well maybe not. I’m sure she has her share of problems, like who should she eat lunch with today. You know when I was somewhat in her group I was happy. Now I’m back in the same old group. Continue Reading

the truth of the matter is

I had a wonderful 17 days wandering around and having adventures with Will.

I came home, had a whirlwind-back-at-work 4th of July weekend and week after before heading out to Colorado for my grandmother’s postponed memorial and ashes scattering.

I’d never scattered any ashes before.

My grandmother had a computer. It was large and boxy and took up half of the room I used to sleep in with the water bed. She used it to write, as I often use mine to. She never had to use her computer to work.

Whether I’m writing or working or having fun with art, most of the time it’s at the computer. And it’s hard to work at the computer all day, every day. It was hard to come back to a life like that after walking for 6+ hours a day and exploring and swimming when I felt like it. Continue Reading

I hate Andy. He used me. He deliberately led me to believe he liked me.

I hate Andy. He used me. He deliberately led me to believe he liked me. I mean what about that day in Art, when Amanda said he liked me. And all those days ever since when Steve has asked me if I liked Andy. Andy probably hired them to mislead me. I really thought he liked me. I almost liked him. I have no proof that he ever liked me, but really. Two reasons were alot. The reasons are mentioned above. Now Andy goes and likes Amy. I swear! Really! Damn him. I will never let anyone read this diary again.

Fuck Becky. You know she told me her mom would be back by early Sunday night, and that her mom would take us to see Jurassic Park that night. So I called her to ask if she could go. Continue Reading

Germany 2011: A Journey in Photographs

Will and I embarked on a three-country European vacation last month. The first country we visited was Germany where we were hosted by our friends Spencer and Ann Marie. Thank goodness for friends!

The sheer number of amazing museums and other wonderful things to do in and around Berlin was fairly overwhelming, but did not preclude an awesome stay.

I did not want school to end. I am very upset. Now I don’t get to flirt and have fun.

School’s out as of yesterday. Last night I had my Good-bye Becky/Out of School Party. It was cool, except everyone was fighting. Big time. Anyway, everyone had fun. Except Alex of course.

Your know we called guys. Pat and Andy. Andy wasn’t home.

Then we called and she said Andy was seeing Jurassic Park with Amy. Everyone at the party knew that Andy liked Amy. Well Amy was at her brothers graduation and lied. But I thought Andy liked me. Oh well. Now my list of guys grew shorter. Oh, well. Continue Reading

Villa Nova I La Getru, Spain

When I went away to college, I showed an interest in photography by signing up for a Photography course.

My father lent me his old Nikon camera– those were the days before digital cameras.  He gave me instructions, many of which where to help with navigating the manual camera.  The one that has stuck with me, and, I believe, has had the most lasting impact on my photography, was to hold the camera vertical in relation to the earth, to look for straight lines in the subject and to mirror them in my photo.

I thank my father on this Father’s Day for these instructions and for that indispensable advice.  Coming from a long line of artists on both sides, I know that I have many to thank for my ability to find a subject anywhere, and to look for the best possible manifestation of that subject.  But I know that realistically without my father’s guidance, I would have been thrown into the deep end — kicking and screaming with no way out, and that instead, I was gifted an incorrigible eye for photos, for art, and for life.

With this in mind on this Father’s Day, Will and I embarked on an adventure on our first day in Villa Nova I La Getru, Spain. With a richly colored country side, and character-filled landscape, there was hardly a lack of inspiration.  These are a few of the unedited photos I took. Continue Reading
